Romeu refuses to panic

Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu insists the players have faith in Mauricio Pellegrino as they battle to move clear of the relegation zone.

Saints produced a limp display on Sunday when they lost 2-0 to Liverpool at St Mary's, a result that plunged them back into the bottom three.

They had moved clear of the drop-zone the previous weekend as a result of winning 3-2 at West Brom.

Spanish midfielder Romeu has called for calm and is confident Saints will ease away from danger in the last three months of the campaign.

He said: "We wouldn't want to panic, and there's always a solution.

"Of course it's not nice to see ourselves down in the table, but last week we won, and came up three or four places in the table.

"Yes we have confidence in the manager but it's not his problem. We're the ones playing, and the ones that have to change this.

"It's going to be very, very tight until the end (of the season). Every point's going to be important. We are here because we deserve to be here, so the end of the season's going to be crucial."

Southampton, 100/1 to be relegated this season, can be backed at 9/5 to beat West Brom in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
