Mauricio Pochettino says that consistency will be crucial if Tottenham can secure Champions League qualification for next season.

With Manchester City cruising towards the Premier League title, 16 points clear of the chasing pack, the focus at the top of the table is rather on those teams chasing a top four place.

It will be a battle until the end and we know very well that we need to be consistent.

Spurs go into the weekend fixtures fourth in the table with a two-point cushion over fifth placed Chelsea.

They play Huddersfield at Wembley on Saturday and in a press conference ahead of that game, manager Pochettino says that consistency can ensure they will enjoy Champions League football again next season.

He said: "We need to fight a lot with different teams to try to achieve the top four because it will be so important for next season.

"It will be a battle until the end and we know very well that we need to be consistent. After our defeat against Manchester City we are in a run of 16 games unbeaten.

"That is what we need to do, be consistent and win games and try to finish in the best condition possible and try to get one of the Champions League places for next season."

Spurs are 1/6 to win on Saturday with the Terriers 18/1 and the draw priced at 15/2.

Pochettino's side are still fighting on two other fronts. They play Juventus in this campaign's Champions League round of 16 with the teams level at 2-2 after the first-leg in Italy. Spurs are 2/5 to qualify for the quarter-finals with Juventus at 2/1.

Spurs are also in the FA Cup quarter-finals and play Swansea away for a place in the last four.
