Son on target for Spurs

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino said he was pleased for the players who came in to his team and contributed to a professional performance.

Spurs beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Wembley, a second-half goal from Son Heung-min giving the side the points over the Premier League's bottom side.

We had a few problems after the Madrid game and that's why I'm so happy with the victory.

However, after the thrill of beating Real Madrid in midweek, this was more of a struggle with the Eagles having chances to cause a shock.

Spurs had to make changes coming into the game with the news that Dele Alli was missing while he has also been ruled out of England's forthcoming games against Germany and Brazil with a hamstring injury.

Pochettino's side also had Paulo Gazzaniga making his debut in goal in place of Hugo Lloris and the changes perhaps contributed to a disjointed performance rescued by the excellent strike from Son.

Pochettino said it was a tough game after the euphoria of the Champions League, but was pleased with how his team coped and eventually won through.

He said: "It was a tough game for us after Wednesday. Palace were compact, narrow and playing on the counter attack. We had the possession but not many chances.

"They were fresh after one week to prepare for the game. We had a few problems after the Madrid game and that's why I'm so happy with the victory. In the end though I'm very pleased with an important three points."

With other games taking place on Sunday, Spurs head into the international break on 23 points and stay third in the Premier League table.

Their next game is the North London derby, away to Arsenal on 18th November. Spurs are 21/10 to win at the Emirates, the Gunners are 11/8 with the draw priced at 13/5.

Spurs are 16/1 to win the Champions League this season.
