Pardew up for survival fight

Alan Pardew accepts that his West Brom side face something of a must-win Premier League game at home to Huddersfield Town next weekend.

Boss Pardew was speaking after seeing his side suffer a 2-1 FA Cup fifth round defeat at home to Southampton, although he was buoyed by an action-packed second half which almost saw Albion force a replay.

We've got to try and get a win against Huddersfield and take that momentum into the next few games.

Now his attentions turns to a visit from the Terriers next Saturday, with Town currently just outside the bottom three, seven points better off than the rock-bottom Baggies.

Pardew told reporters: "We've got to stay injury-free, we've got to try and get a win against Huddersfield and take that momentum into the next few games.

"Three wins in this division, as Swansea have proven, changes your position massively and that's what we need to do.

"It was difficult to go 2-0 down in the circumstances we're under and I think anybody who was here will see that that was a proper fight and a proper effort.

"I hope I'm the right man because I'm an experienced manager. I've experienced this situation a few times before.

"Once I have been relegated, at Charlton, but I've got out of this situation before at Newcastle and Crystal Palace and I'm determined to get out of this one as well."

Albion are 17/20 to secure a crucial win over Huddersfield next Saturday and are 5/1 to win the game 1-0, with a 2-1 home victory available at 9/1.
