Jose Mourinho is set to give a number of youngsters a chance for Manchester United against Crystal Palace, while Paul Pogba will feature after a recent absence.

France midfielder Pogba has missed the Red Devils' last two games following the death of his father, but is back in training with United and is set for a return to action against the Eagles at Old Trafford on Sunday.

He needs these minutes on the pitch, so he plays against Palace.

"Paul is fine - strong guy, strong mentality. He is learning how to live after his father passed away, but he is strong," Mourinho told reporters.

"He knows that he needs to play on Sunday because he didn't play, didn't train for a long time. He needs these minutes on the pitch, so he plays against Palace."

Mourinho also confirmed that he will utilise only a handful of regular first-team players for the clash with Palace, with his main focus the Europa League final against Ajax in Stockholm next Wednesday.

Central defender Chris Smalling is one of the regulars who will sit out this weekend, with the England international having picked up a knock which Mourinho expects him to shake off for next Wednesday.

The Portuguese added: "Chris Smalling has a problem, but a small problem that I think is no problem at all for next week. It’s a problem for the weekend, but not for the final."

United will finish in sixth place in the Premier League whatever the result on Sunday and will hope to end their league campaign with a repeat of their 2-1 win against Palace at Selhurst Park just before Christmas.

A 2-1 home win on Sunday is available at 9/1, with the Red Devils 9/4 to keep a clean sheet, while the visitors are 3/1 to keep a clean sheet of their own.
