Lack of ambition irks Lukaku
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku appears to have made his mind up and will seek a move away from Goodison Park in the summer.
The 23-year-old has spoken of his desire to win trophies and does not think the Toffees have the ambition to challenge for honours.
It had been thought that the Belgium international was close to penning a contract extension with Everton but he has now hinted that he will be looking to leave the club at the end of this season.
Lukaku, who is under contract at Goodison Park until the end of the 2018/19 campaign, said: "Everton as a club have a great history, right? But the future has to be written. You get me?
"We always talk about the teams of the 1980s and, if you look, it was great. But we, as players, want the fans talking about us instead of us talking about them.
"You cannot only be remembered by scoring goals. You want to be remembered by winning trophies. That is what the fans want. So instead of living in the past, you have to think ahead."
Lukaku, who has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea, added: "I don't know what the board's plan is, but there were some players I knew the club could have got and they didn't, and they’re playing in this league.
"I am not saying names, but they are doing well."
Everton, 25/1 to finish in the top six this season, can be backed at 7/1 to beat Hull City 2-0 this weekend. Meanwhile, Lukaku is 16/1 to the Premer League's leading goalscorer this term.
