Hughes hails Crouch impact

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes singled out supersub Peter Crouch after he helped grab a 2-2 draw with Leicester City at the bet365 Stadium.

The Potters twice came from behind to claim a point in a thrilling game that often seemed to be swaying in Leicester's direction.

The Foxes went ahead when Vicente Iborra lashed home from a corner and, in truth, the forward could have trebled his tally in the first half alone.

He always gets himself in a good position and he understood what was required.

Stoke however responded six minutes before the break, playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri curling home a fine strike.

Riyad Mahrez restored Leicester's lead on the hour but Crouch was sprung from the bench to good effect and he levelled from a Shaqiri corner with 17 minutes left to play.

Hughes has insisted the former England striker must be ready to play a reduced role in his twilight years, and he hailed Crouch for his contribution.

"Peter was effective when he came on. He always gets himself in a good position and he understood what was required. He changed the game for us," said Hughes.

"It is important that you consistently pick up points. We won't win every game, we won't lose every game. It is about getting a steady return in terms of points. Every time you get a Premier League point you should celebrate."

Stoke are 12/5 to win their next Premier League game away at Brighton on Monday 20th November.

The Seagulls are 7/5 while the draw is 11/5.
