Watford boss Javi Gracia says that Troy Deeney's form has been an important part of the Hornets recent revival.

Watford made it three wins out of four Premier League games with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened West Brom at Vicarage Road.

I always say the captain is an important player on and off the pitch. I'm very happy for him.

Skipper Deeney scored the only goal of the game, as he did in the side's win over Everton last week and any lingering relegation fears were eased by the victory over the Baggies which takes Watford onto 36 points for the season.

Deeney has not enjoyed an easy season with the Hornets, suffering disciplinary problems and being out of favour at times.

However, after scoring his fifth goal of the campaign, he is firmly in his manager's plans.

Gracia said: "Troy has scored two very important goals in two games, and I always say the captain is an important player on and off the pitch. I'm very happy for him."

On the victory, he said he was proud of the players for securing back-to-back home wins, adding: "I don't know what will happen in the future, but at the moment we are in a good place, are trying to enjoy it and improve day-by-day. It's the best mentality to help us to get three points."

Watford are back in action next Sunday when they take on Arsenal away at the Emirates Stadium.

They are 6/1 to cause more trouble for Arsene Wenger's side with the Gunners 1/2 and the draw is priced at 18/5.

Arsenal, now on a three-game losing streak in the Premier League, are 17/2 to win the game 1-0.

The win for Watford added to West Brom's woes and they remain stranded at the bottom of the Premier League table eight points adrift of safety.
