Leicester City manager Claude Puel believes Fousseni Diabate can be as good a signing for the Foxes as Riyad Mahrez.
The 22-year-old forward is close to completing his £2million move to the King Power Stadium from French Ligue 2 side Gazelec Ajaccio.
Leicester signed Mahrez from Ligue 2 side Le Havre in 2014 and the Algerian played a key role in helping the Foxes win the 2015/16 Premier League title.
Diabete, who has represented Mali at Under-20 and Under-23 levels, only moved to Gazelec Ajaccio seven months ago but Puel thinks he can thrive in the Premier League.
"He is close to signing," said Puel. "It is a good opportunity for us. It is a young player with potential.
"In the past Leicester have signed good players from Ligue 2 like Mahrez. I think Diabate has a lot of quality. He has pace and good penetration. He has very good feet and he can make the difference.
"He is versatile and can play anywhere across the front, winger both sides and striker also. It is a good opportunity for the future and an interesting player."
Leicester visit Chelsea on Saturday and are 11/1 to cause a shock by winning at Stamford Bridge. Mahrez is 11/2 to score at any time in a match Puel's side are 12/1 to draw 1-1.
