The forward graduated from Barcelona's La Masia Academy and made his debut for the senior team at the age of just 17.
He made over 20 appearances for the Spanish club but has had several loans spells away, with Sevilla, AC Milan and two spells at Everton.
He has four caps for Spain, his most recent appearance for his country coming in 2017 in a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein.
He will join a club who finished 14th in the Premier League last term. They had an excellent start to the season, losing just one of their first eight matches.
However, they then endured a poor run which cost Marco Silva his job. Javi Gracia took over and he remains and hopes to add other new faces in the coming days and weeks with reports that the club have agreed a fee with Bologna to sign left-back Adam Masina.
The Hornets plans for pre-season include matches against Stevenage and Brentford before the new Premier League season begins on 11th August.
