Chambers commits to Gunners
Calum Chambers says he is extremely excited about the future after signing a new "long-term" contract with Arsenal.
The 23-year-old former Southampton defender, who spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Middlesbrough, made 24 appearances for the Gunners last season.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery completed the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week but Chambers is happy to have competition for a starting spot in the team's defence.
Chambers said: "I'm really proud, really pleased and excited for this season and what lies ahead.
"I've really enjoyed it, it is a great club and there have been ups and downs but that is football, that is a career.
"I've met some great people here and I'm really excited about the future and I want to kick on and prove to everyone the player I can be."
Meanwhile, Emery is believed to be keen to sign Andre Gomes from Barcelona this summer
The 24-year-old Portugal international is expected to leave the Nou Camp before the start of the new season with Tottenham and Valencia also thought to be keen to secure his services.
Gomes moved to Barcelona from Valencia two years ago for a transfer fee of Euros 35million, plus Euros 20million in add-ons.
Arsenal are 15/8 to finish in the top four of the Premier League in 2018/19 and 10/3 to beat Manchester City in their first game of the campaign on 11th August.
