Carroll's return thrills Bilic
Slaven Bilic hailed Andy Carroll after the former Newcastle and Liverpool striker played a key role in West Ham's 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town.
The Hammers had lost their first three Premier League matches of the campaign but finally got off the mark on Monday thanks to second-half goals by Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew.
West Ham will be hoping to build on the victory against the Terriers when they face West Brom on Saturday. Bilic's side are 12/5 to win at The Hawthorns and 12/1 to win the match from behind.
"I am very pleased with the way we dealt with the difficult situation that was created. After three defeats your confidence is a bit down, but the lads did everything we asked from them," said Bilic afterwards.
It was Carroll's first appearance since the 2-2 draw at Sunderland in April, and Bilic said of the injury-prone forward: "Andy was excellent. You know what he will bring on the pitch, not only winning balls in the air or playing some good football or being a threat in the box, but he is also setting that level of tempo.
"He's always an option and especially when you have players like Antonio and Chicharito who can run in behind, it's great to have him in the team.
"He has come back and played after a long break. He is fit now and hopefully he will stay fit for the whole season."
