Arsene Wenger insists he hopes to bring some new faces to Arsenal this month but that no new signings are imminent.
The Gunners, who suffered a 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday, have been linked with West Brom's former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.
Wenger has already signed the Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina for £2million this month, but when asked about Evans after last season's FA Cup winners had lost at The City Ground, the Frenchman replied: "We are not close to signing anyone.
"We signed a Greek boy who looks quite good in training but, apart from that, we have not done anything.
"Will we be out there to do something? Yes we will."
Meanwhile, Wenger said of his side's performance against Forest: "It was very frustrating [being in the stands] and unfortunately it was a case on top of that of seeing the team lose.
"We played a very good Forest team who were sharp and focused. The challenges were decisive. Overall our performance wasn't good enough."
Arsenal visit Stamford Bridge on Wednesday to play Chelsea in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final. Wenger's team are 1/1 to draw the match 1-1 and 6/4 to qualify for the final.
They are also available at 1500/1 to finish in the top four of the Premier League this term and at 12121/1 to win the Europa League.
