Ernesto Valverde is looking to guide Barcelona to "a lot of trophies" after extending his contract until summer 2020 with the option of a further year.
The 55-year-old enjoyed a successful first season in charge at the Camp Nou last term, having replaced Luis Enrique in summer 2017, as he helped Barca win the La Liga and Copa del Rey double.
The Catalan giants remain on course to repeat that feat as they sit six points clear at the top of La Liga and are set to go into the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg away at El Clasico rivals Real Madrid on 27th February with the tie level at 1-1.
It's comforting that the club want me to give continuity to the project. To a certain degree, that makes me take on more responsibility.Ernesto Valverde
Barcelona are also still in the Champions League with a two-legged last-16 tie against French side Lyon coming up and Valverde is delighted to end any doubts surrounding his future by putting pen-to-paper on the contract.
"I am really happy, I have the sensation that I'm experiencing a unique situation and I'm grateful that the club value what I am doing," he said, ahead of Saturday's La Liga home clash against Real Valladolid.
"They offered me the chance to continue and I had no doubts. I am delighted to extend my contract.
"We have a lot of challenges ahead of us, a lot of games to win and a lot of trophies to win.
