Ivan Rakitic says the door should be open for Neymar should he decide he wants to return to Barcelona.
The Brazilian forward left Barca for Paris Saint Germain in a deal worth €222 million last August that made him the world's most expensive footballer.
Neymar is reportedly unhappy in the French capital amid rumours of fall-outs with teammates and manager Unai Emery.
He is currently sidelined by injury and facing a race against time in order to be fit for this summer's World Cup in Russia.
If it was up to me I would open the door for him to come back right now.Ivan Rakitic
Already this season Neymar has been touted for a controversial switch to Barcelona's bitter rivals Real Madrid but Rakitic would love to see him back at the Nou Camp.
"Neymar's not said anything to me, but if it was up to me I would open the door for him to come back right now," Rakitic told reporters.
"Not just because of the relationship I have with him, but because of the type of player he is. I would always put Neymar in my team."
Barca coach Ernesto Valverde labelled the rumours of a return as 'fantasy' on Friday.
Neymar spent four years at Barcelona before leaving for Paris last summer. Reports in Spain last week suggested Real Madrid are willing to meet PSG's asking price of €400m for the striker.
Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane was keen to avoid questions about "a player who plays for another club" in his press conference ahead of a victory at Eibar on Saturday, but he did say he believed that such a transfer fee would soon be entirely possible.
Real Madrid dumped Paris St Germain from the Champions League last week and are 4/6 to win a third successive European crown this season.
Barcelona are 12121/1 for Champions League glory, with Manchester City 12121/1.
