The tie was effectively over after half an hour with City leading 3-0 and Puel was delighted that a potentially tricky tie was comfortably dealt with.
He told BT Sport after the match: "It was important to start well, with intensity and quality. We did that and went on to score some very good goals. It was important for the squad that we could perform well today.

"Fousseni Diabate played in the second division in France but he had some quality to play in Premier League. It was a perfect first game. Now it's important he continues to work hard."
Diabate was making his debut for Leicester after signing from French club Gazelec Ajaccio while for Iheanacho, the former Manchester City striker is yet to score in the league for his new side but has now scored nine goals in nine FA Cup ties since January 2016.
The win adds to an unbeaten start to the new year for Puel's side. Two wins and a draw in the Premier League have taken them up to seventh in the table while they are now in the draw for the fifth round of the cup.
They are back in league action on Wednesday travelling to Goodison Park to take on struggling Everton. They are 9/5 for the win with Sam Allardyce's side 9/5 and the draw priced at 11/5.
The Foxes are 500/1 to end the season in the top six in the Premier League.
