Hughton hopes for Locadia debut

Brighton boss Chris Hughton says that he is excited at the prospect of record signing Jurgen Locadia making his debut this weekend.

The Seagulls entertain League Two Coventry in the FA Cup on Saturday with the winners through to the quarter-finals and the Premier League outfit will hope to have Locadia available to make his debut.

This will give him the chance to work on his fitness levels and give him the chance to integrate into the team.

The Dutch striker joined the club in the January transfer window but has been out of action with a hamstring injury since.

However, he is nearing full fitness and Hughton says he has trained well and should feature on Saturday.

At a press conference ahead of the Coventry game, the Brighton manager said: "He will play and start, he is fully clear from the injury. This will give him the chance to work on his fitness levels and give him the chance to integrate into the team in a game, as opposed to in training."

Brighton are 1/3 to win through to the last eight with Coventry 11/1 while the draw is 17/4.

The visiting Sky Blues are the lowest ranked team left in this year's FA Cup but Hughton says there will be no chance of complacency from his side.

He also said that the cup run his side has been on has helped rather than hindered their fight to stay in the Premier League.

"The cup run has helped the squad. When you're a player who's training well and needs opportunities it gives you a chance. It's been really good and has allowed us to use the squad," he added.

Brighton are comfortably placed in the Premier League table, in 14th, but they are only two points above the relegation zone in a congested bottom half of the table.

The Seagulls are 1/500 to stay up and ensure a second season in the Premier League.
