Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has completed the signing of striker Sam Winnall from their South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.

The 25-year-old moves to Hillsborough for an undisclosed fee on a deal running until June 2020.

Winnall, who moved to Oakwell from Scunthorpe United in the summer of 2014, scored 48 goals in 116 games for the Tykes.

"Can't wait to get started and help this club back up to where it belongs!" Winnall posted on Twitter.

Wednesday, who are 6/5 to beat Huddersfield Town in the Championship on Saturday, are currently sixth in the table, and can be backed at 7/4 to be promoted this term.

Barnsley are eighth after winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and clinching promotion from League One via the play-offs last season.

The Owls, who were beaten by Hull City in the Championship play-off final at Wembley last term, have allowed Sergiu Bus to join the Romanian champions Astra Giurgiu.

Bus has only featured in nine league games for Wednesday since joining the club from CSKA Sofia in February 2015.

Sheffield Wednesday are available at 8/1 to beat Huddersfield in Saturday's Yorkshire derby 2-1 while Winnall is 13/8 to score at any time in the game.
