Experienced midfielder Mile Jedinak says his Aston Villa side simply have to concentrate on their own performances as they chase a Premier League return.
The Villans are currently in third place in the Championship table, four points behind Cardiff City, who occupy the all-important second automatic promotion spot.
Derby County and Fulham are also in the mix for a top-two finish and Australia international Jedinak says his team-mates should forget all about their rivals and focus on the doing their jobs on the pitch.
He told the club's official website: "We've got to control our own destiny.
"We've still got to play a few of the teams in and around us, which gives us a good opportunity. A lot of them at home, too.
"Teams are going to take points off each other, teams are going to drop points. It's the way it works, especially in this division.
"We need to make sure we're on the right side of the results as often as possible and you do that by putting in strong performances. We need to keep doing that until the end of the season."
Villa still have home games against Cardiff, Derby and leaders Wolves to play this season, as they hunt a top-flight return after two seasons away.
The Midlanders can be backed at 11/10 to gain promotion this season, with Cardiff City available at 1/7, Fulham 4/6 and Derby County 12121/1.
