Striker Mark Uth is relishing a new challenge, having agreed a deal which will see him leave Hoffenheim to join Schalke at the end of the current campaign.

The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Royal Blues, having netted nine goals during the first half of the Bundesliga season, as well as two Champions League goals against Liverpool.

I'm confident that a move to Schalke is the perfect next step for me.

And Uth, who has yet to win a senior cap for Germany, is excited about his future, while pledging to give his all for Hoffenheim in the coming months.

He told his new club's official website: "I'm confident that a move to Schalke is the perfect next step for me. I'm really looking forward to tackling this new challenge from the summer.

"Until then, I will of course be fully focused on my role at TSG and will continue to help the club reach their goals with commitment and passion."

Uth joined Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015, having previously made his name in the Netherlands with Heerenveen and Heracles, having started out in his homeland with Koln.

Schalke stand in second place in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich after a fine first half of the season, while they are also still involved in the DFB-Pokal.

Die Konigsblauen face Wolfsburg in the quarter-finals of a competition they have won on five occasions, the last of which came in 2011, when they thrashed Duisburg 5-0 in the final in Berlin.

Schalke are priced at 5000/1 to win the DFB-Pokal again this season, with Bayer Leverkusen 5000/1 and Bayern Munich 1/10.
