Tisserand plugs Wolfsburg gap

Wolfsburg have signed Marcel Tisserand on a season-long loan after summer recruit John Anthony Brooks sustained a serious thigh injury.

American defender Brooks is set for at least three months on the sidelines after suffering a torn tendon in his right thigh in the DFB-Pokal win over Eintracht Norderstedt.

Marcel is a player that knows the Bundesliga and can help us immediately.

That left Wolves head coach Andries Jonker short of cover at the back and he moved quickly to plug the gap with the addition of the versatile Tisserand from relegated Ingolstadt.

Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe told the club's official website: "Marcel is a player that knows the Bundesliga and can help us immediately."

The addition of Tisserand is timely after the Wolves lost their Bundesliga opener 3-0 at home to Borussia Dortmund, with a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt next on the agenda.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted Hannover have added to their attacking options with the signing of well-travelled Brazilian Jonathas from Rubin Kazan.

The 28-year-old, who played in Holland, Spain and Italy before heading to Russia, has penned a three-year contract with Die Roten and is hoping to put down roots after several seasons of change.

Sporting director Horst Heldt told the club's official website: "As far as strikers go, Jonathas ticks all the boxes for us.

"He's imposing physically, dangerous with both feet and good in the air. He's scored goals wherever he's been and that's what we're expecting from him at Hannover."

Hannover are 20/1 to be relegated this season, with Wolfsburg priced at 9/1 and Hamburg available at 2/1.
