Stoger eager to help Reus bid
Borussia Dortmund are determined to do all they can to help forward Marco Reus finally feature for Germany at the World Cup finals.
The 28-year-old has been blighted by injuries during his career to date, meaning that he missed the European Championship finals of 2016 due to a groin problem and the 2014 World Cup finals because of an ankle injury.
I'd be lying if I said that I didn't think about the World Cup and I really want to be there.Marco Reus
Reus has also missed a majority of the current campaign due to a serious knee injury sustained in the DFB-Pokal final last season, but he has returned to action and immediately hit top form, scoring in three Bundesliga games in a row.
And BVB head coach Peter Stoger is desperate to ensure that Reus will get the chance to impress in Russia in the summer, telling reporters: "It's important for us that he stays fit.
"It's also important he stays fit, because we all wish that he plays the tournament in the summer. Thank God, right now, he's pain-free and the knee is okay. Still, we must be careful not to demand too much from him."
And Reus himself is eager to earn a place in the Germany squad who will try to defend their world crown in a matter of months.
He added: "I'd be lying if I said that I didn't think about the World Cup and I really want to be there.
"I keep it in the back of my head, because it's important to be focused, but I won't make a secret of the fact that it's a big goal of mine to be there. I know I've got a good chance if I'm playing well."
Germany are available at 12121/1 to win the World Cup, with France priced at 1/2 and Brazil 12121/1.
