Chief executive Christian Heidel expects in-demand Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka to make a decision about his future before the end of the winter break.
The 22-year-old Germany international is out of contract next summer, with a host of top European clubs rumoured to be interested in his services, with links to both Spain and England the strongest.

However, Die Konigsblauen are reported to have offered Goretzka a club record deal to remain in Gelsenkirchen, with Heidel waiting to see what develops in the next month.
He told the German media: "It appears that other clubs are also interested and they would certainly not like to wait (for a decision) until June 29th.
"We've not set him a date, but it will automatically come down to a decision being made in the winter. I don't know whether that will be on December 17th or January 2nd.

Goretzka joined Schalke in the summer of 2013 from Bochum and came close to being named in the 2014 Germany World Cup squad which went on to lift the trophy in Brazil.
Last summer the talented schemer impressed as Die Mannschaft won the Confederations Cup, with Goretzka currently having scored six times in 12 appearances for the national team.
This season he has helped Schalke to third place in the Bundesliga standings ahead of the weekend action.
They can be backed at 1/1000 to finish in the top four come the end of the season, with Bayer Leverkusen priced at 4/5 and Borussia Monchengladbach available at 1000/1.
