Bayern new boy can fill Alonso void
Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti says summer buy Corentin Tolisso is the perfect replacement for retired star Xabi Alonso.
The German champions moved for Tolisso last month, beating competition from Juventus to sign him from Lyon on a five-year deal.
Alonso opted to retire at the end of last season but Ancelotti is confident the arrival of 22-year-old Tolisso has strengthened his midfield options.
"Tolisso is a really good midfielder in our opinion. He was one of the best midfielders in the market," Ancelotti said on Saturday.
"He is a really complete midfielder, good passing, forward, really well positioned defensively and also in my opinion a lot of opportunity to improve.
"He's still young, he did well in Lyon, but I think with us he can improve more. He's going to complete our midfield."
He added: "I think that Tolisso also has a good profile to replace a player like Alonso."
Bayern are 11/2 to win the Champions League outright next season, while Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig can be backed at 12121/1.
Holders Real Madrid can be backed at 11/2 to successfully defend their European crown.
