Regan to fill Reds vacancy
Taylor Regan has come into Adelaide United's side to take on Melbourne Victory as the Reds look to stretch their unbeaten sequence to four games.
The defender has featured in nine games this season for Marco Kurz's side, but has only started twice.
He's the Reds coach's choice to replace the suspended Ersan Gulum in the side at AAMI Park, with Gulum sitting out the clash after being sent off in last weekend's 2-2 home draw with Central Coast.
Kurz was happy with the way Regan did when he played over 70 minutes against the Mariners following the Turkey international's dismissal.
"I think Taylor (Regan) did a good job after he came in, and he will start, Taylor is a good player he waited a long time after his long injury," said the coach. "But he is now fit, he's ready and he's hungry for success."
It's a significant game as United could see Victory leapfrog them into fourth place if they pick up the points.
Kurz expects Victory to be fired up after their 4-1 Asian Champions League defeat to Shanghai SIPG on Tuesday. Kevin Muscat's outfit have suffered three straight league defeats, while United have only lost one of their last seven matches.
Kurz praised the contribution of new signing Dzengis Cavusevic on his debut against Central Coast.
The Slovenian played 25 minutes and was only denied the winning goal by a brilliant Ben Kennedy save from his late header.
"He is not 100 per cent fit, but in the twenty minutes he played against Central Coast everybody could see that he'll be an important player for us in the future," said Kurz.
"I think we had a lot of fun in the last game with Dzengis because he's a good player and in this moment he came in and our game changed not completely but in the right way."
The Reds are 11/4 to beat Melbourne Victory, who are 21/20, with the draw 12/5.
