Three-time BDO world champion Glen Durrant is relishing a new opportunity after claiming a PDC Tour card by impressing at qualifying school.

Durrant will be joined in the PDC ranks by the man he beat in the final of the 2018 BDO championship - Mark McGeeney - while Jamie Hughes, Scott Baker and Conan Whitehead have also earned the right to switch camps.

I'm so excited about what the future holds and I'll be giving 100 per cent so that I can achieve as much as I possibly can.

And Durrant is relishing the chance to pit himself against the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson and Peter Wright, telling the official PDC website: "This is as good as winning the Lakeside Championship.

"I'm so happy and relieved to get through, because there was so much pressure on me to do this.

"When I looked around the venue I noticed that a lot of people were watching my matches and I also put a lot of pressure on myself.

"Thankfully I got the job done and I'm immensely proud of what I've achieved. I'm so excited about what the future holds and I'll be giving 100 per cent so that I can achieve as much as I possibly can."

Durrant made an impact against the PDC field when he reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts in 2017, before being beaten by eventual finalist Wright.

Duzza is priced at 25/1 to win the 2020 PDC World Championship, with reigning champion Van Gerwen 11/10 and Wright 14/1.
