Coetzer heaps praise on MacLeod
Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer hailed the 'unbelievable effort' of Calum MacLeod following the impressive win over Afghanistan in the World Cup qualifiers.
MacLeod hit a glorious, unbeaten 157, off 146 balls, as the Scots defeated the Test nation by seven wickets in Bulawayo.
The successful chase of 256 - which included a 208-run stand between MacLeod and Richie Berrington for the third wicket - has thrown Group B wide open.
The top three teams from the two groups progress to the Super Six stage, with points acquired against rival teams retained. The top two in the standings following the second round of matches against those from the other group qualify for the 2019 World Cup.
"The standout for us was MacLeod. It was an unbelievable effort from him. Earlier, the bowlers did their job, the spinners were effective in their short spells. We took wickets continuously and that was the key to our day. Richie ended with three wickets and some 70 runs, was brilliant in the field, his standards never drop," said Koetzer.
"It's a great start to the tournament but we will take every day as it comes. We need to pick ourselves up again and get ready and raring to go against Hong Kong."
The world's number-one ranked bowler Rashid Khan conceded 68 runs on his debut as Afghanistan captain - the leg-spinner has never gone for more in a one-day international.
