John Wright will return to Derbyshire as Twenty20 coach this summer with the entire specialist support staff confident of building on the 2017 quarter-final place.

New Zealander Wright will take control of this coming summer's Vitality Blast competition, having guided the midlands county to the final eight for the first time since 2005 last summer.

John, Dominic [Cork] and all the players are determined to build on the successes from last summer and continue our progression in this format.

No northern county won more group games than the eight Derbyshire managed.

Also returning to assist ex-Black Caps batsman Wright is former club captain and England all-rounder Dominic Cork, who will work as bowling coach.

"We're delighted to have John and Dominic back as specialist coaches for the Vitality Blast this summer," said Derbyshire's cricket advisor Kim Barnett.

"We saw great progress in the shortest format in 2017, securing a home quarter-final for the first time and playing a positive brand of cricket throughout the competition.

"John, Dominic and all the players are determined to build on the successes from last summer and continue our progression in this format. Our ultimate aim is to reach Finals Day and bring silverware to Derbyshire."

Meanwhile, England are available at 5/1 to win the Twenty20 World Cup in 2020, while Australia are priced at 11/4 and India are 7/2.
