Travis Head has signed for Worcestershire as their main overseas player for the 2018 season.
Head - who hit a match-sealing 96 in a one-day win over England last month and then led Adelaide Strikers to victory in the Big Bash League at the start of this one - will arrive at New Road for the start of the County Championship season.
The 24-year-old will feature in all formats until mid-September, although he is anticipated to be absent on international duty for Australia's five ODIs and one T20 against England in mid-summer.
Worcestershire are pursuing a replacement import to fill in during that period and for the two Championship matches at the end of the season.
Head, with 34 ODIs and nine Twenty20 internationals under his belt, is keen to push his claims for an Ashes spot in 2019.
Worcestershire vice-chairman Tim Curtis, who led the recruitment process, said: "We are delighted to have signed Travis after obtaining a heads of agreement from Cricket Australia.
"Travis will start the season with us in April and will be with us right through to and including T20 finals day on 15th September. He will miss two Championship games in June when Australia have an ODI series and a T20I against England over here.
"He has just captained Adelaide Strikers to the Big Bash title after playing a big part with the bat in the final and semi-final and played that fine innings against England in a recent ODI.
"But he is ambitious to play Test cricket and Cricket Australia have encouraged him and other young players to play cricket this summer.
"He is hungry to do well and play all types of cricket and he also spoke to Mo (Moeen Ali) in Australia and he gave him positive vibes about coming to New Road."
England are 13/8 to beat Australia (1/2) in Saturday's Twenty20 match between the two teams.
