Marsh relishes Oval opportunity
Surrey are confident that they have added a quality performer to their squad for next season by signing Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.
The 26-year-old could be available for the whole of the 2018 summer, depending on international call-ups, having opted against putting forward for the Indian premier League auction.
Marsh has played in 21 Test matches to date, as well as 48 one-day internationals and nine T20 internationals and featured for Australia on their recent tour of India.
And he is clearly looking forward to the opportunity to test himself in the English county game, as he told his new county's official website: "The opportunity to challenge myself in English conditions is something I can't wait for.
"Hopefully I'll be able to contribute to some silverware, along with helping a young squad grow and improve."
Meanwhile, Surrey director of cricket Alec Stewart is also pleased with the deal, adding: "Mitch Marsh (is a) a highly talented, exciting and motivated international all-rounder.
"His all-round abilities and experience will add great balance and depth to our squad in all formats of the game."
Surrey finished in third place in County Championship Division One last summer, while they lost in the T20 Blast quarter-finals to the Birmingham Bears and reached the final of the Royal London Cup, only to be beaten by Nottinghamshire.
