Durham have signed India all-rounder Axar Patel for the final six Specsavers County Championship fixtures of the 2018 season.
The hard-hitting, slow left armer is a dual international for India in one-day and Twenty20 internationals and also plays for the King's XI Punjab in the Inidan Premier League.
Patel will arrive at Chester-le-Street in mid-August and will make his debut against Glamorgan in Cardiff on 19th August.
The 24-year-old will then play three four-day fixtures at Emirates Riverside against Northamptonshire, Sussex and Middlesex before away fixtures against Leicestershire and Warwickshire.
Patel has 79 first-class wickets in 23 matches, including 14 in two matches for India A against South Africa A in 2015. Meanwhile, despite scoring just one hundred, he averages 48.45 with the bat.
His arrival in county cricket comes at a time in his career when he might have been pigeon-holed as a white-ball specialist.
Patel is one cap short of 50 across limited-overs formats for his country and his success in those assignments mean he has not played first-class cricket for 18 months.
His presence in the County Championship will coincide with India's tour here this summer - meaning he is on hand should injuries hit the tourists' squad.
Yorkshire are 1212/1 to win the County Championship Division One title in 2018, while Essex are available at 1212/1.
