Manny Pacquiao has confirmed that talks are taking place which will see him face Britain's Amir Khan in his next fight.

The 38-year-old Filipino had been expected to put his WBO world welterweight title on the line against undefeated Australian Jeff Horn at Brisbane's Suncorp stadium in his next fight.

My team and I are in negotiations with Amir Khan for our next fight. Further announcements coming soon.

However, the former pound-for-pound king and eight-division champion is set to swerve that bout and is looking to line up a showdown with former stablemate Khan in Dubai.

Khan, who trained with Pacquiao when the duo were under the guidance of Freddie Roach, was selected by fans as the 67-fight veteran's next opponent when he recently put a poll on his Twitter feed.

And Pacquiao followed that up on Twitter on Thursday when he said: "My team and I are in negotiations with Amir Khan for our next fight. Further announcements coming soon."

Former WBA and IBF light welterweight champion Khan quickly responded on social media and hinted at a future bout with Pacquiao, who is nicknamed 'Pac-Man', by posting a picture of the arcade console with the comment "Time to Play" underneath.

Khan later added: "Currently negotiating with Manny #teampacquiao. Coming soon. Watch this space!"

Meanwhile, Britain's IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook is also in action again later this year when he defends his belt against unbeaten American Errol Spence Jr in Sheffield on 27th May.

Brook is 6/5 to retain his strap, while Spence Jr can be backed at 4/6 to win the fight.
