Groves expects to beat Eubank Jr
George Groves is confident of beating Chris Eubank Jr in their World Boxing Super Series semi-final after stopping Jamie Cox inside four rounds on Saturday.
The 29-year-old WBA super-middleweight champion comfortably progressed against the previously unbeaten Cox at Wembley Arena and set up a mouth-watering showdown against Eubank Jr, who reached the semi-finals a week earlier when he inflicted a first-ever defeat on Turkish boxer Avni Yildirim in Stuttgart.
If I box like I did (against Cox), he doesn't stand a chance. I boxed tremendously.George Groves
The bout is set to take place in January or February next year with the venue yet to be decided.
Speaking after his win, which was watched by Eubank Jr who was sat ringside, Groves insisted that he will have too much for his fellow Briton when they meet inside the ring.
"He's improved but hasn't boxed anyone on my level," said the Londoner.
"If I box like I did (against Cox), he doesn't stand a chance. I boxed tremendously."
Groves, who has now won 27 of his 30 professional fights, added: "Eubank is a performer first, a fighter second.
"He's always aware of how he's being perceived. He will relish the big occasion; he was desperate to fight me because he knows it's a big fight.
"That pressure isn't easy to carry; it'll be great, fun, but not unique to me."
Groves is 11/8 to win the bout, while Eubank Jr is priced at 8/13.
