Gallagher: Crolla looks at his best

Trainer Joe Gallagher claims Anthony Crolla is "the best I've ever seen him" ahead of his 25th March rematch against Jorge Linares.

The Mancunian has been working hard in his training camp as he attempts to avenge his points defeat against the Venezeulan last September, which saw him relinquish his WBA lightweight title in the process.

With just under a fortnight until the second bout with Linares at the Manchester Arena, Crolla revealed that he is now making his training sessions later so they are closer to the time he will be actually fighting on the night.

It's the best I have ever seen him. Hopefully he can hold that and perform.

He is also pleased with the quality of sparring partners being drafted in to help him prepare.

Crolla said: "I've sparred a local lad, a big prospect, very talented, Zelfa Barrett. We've used Zelfa for a few fights, but he's certainly got similarities to Linares - he's great sparring."

As a result Gallagher has been delighted with Crolla's application to training and can see a real desire for him to reclaim his title in what the 30-year-old said is "the biggest fight of my career".

"I've never seen a better Anthony Crolla," said Gallagher. "I know people say this is the best, but there was a session - I think it was last week - and I came home texting 'I have never seen Anthony Crolla this good.'

"It's the best I have ever seen him. Hopefully he can hold that and perform."

Crolla is 7/4 to win the fight, while Linares is 4/9 to come out on top again and defend his WBA strap.
