Power trio set for pre-season games
Port Adelaide expect injured trio Steven Motlop, Chad Wingard and Jared Polec to play some part in pre-season.
The Power trio all have hamstring injuries but are likely to feature during the JLT Community Series.
Polec's return to action will take longer than those of the other two, and he's aiming to face Adelaide at Alberton Oval on 10th March. The club are then confident he will be right for the opening round against Fremantle two weeks later.
Motlop, who joined from Geelong on a four-year deal, and Wingard have been pencilled in for the Power's opening game against West Coast at Leederville Oval on 25th February.
Wingard represented Australia in the International Rules Series last year and had an impressive season making the switch to the midfield.
Coach Ken Hinkley said he wasn't in doubt for the opening JLT Community Series game.
But defender Matthew Broadbent could miss the first two months of the season after still being troubled by an ankle injury.
He will be assessed in three weeks and won't play any of the pre-season games.
Hinkley said: "It's going to take a bit of management. We've got great faith in him that he'll come back and play a significant part in the season, perhaps after the first month or two."
Gun forward Robbie Gray's being lined up to play in the inaugural AFLX tournament at Adelaide's Hindmarsh Stadium on 15th February.
The three-time Power best and fairest has returned to full training after having chemotherapy for testicular cancer in October.
Gray is likely to be included for the new format that season seven-a-side games played in two, ten-minute halves. Clubs are allowed to have squads of 14 for the AFLX tournaments, with ten players involved in each game.
Port Adelaide are 250/1 to win the Grand Final. The Power are 18/1 to finish in the top eight.
