Reds lose series to the Orioles
The National League Central Division leading Cincinnati Reds went into extra innings on Thursday before falling 2-1 in 10 innings to the visiting Baltimore Orioles.
Blake Wood (0-2) took the loss for the hosts who suffered their second consecutive defeat to the Orioles.
Scott Feldman went the first seven innings for the Reds at the Great American Ball Park surrendering a single run on four hits and no walks while striking out four.
However Wade Miley was even better for Baltimore striking out 11 over eight-innings and tossing a two-hitter before also leaving without the decision.
Cincinnati, who lead the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers by a half game in the standings, will entertain the defending World Series champions on Friday as they meet for the first time this season.
Tim Adelman gets the call for the Reds for his first start of the campaign, while Jon Lester will be on the hill for the Cubs.
Cincinnati has four starters on the disabled list with Brandon Finnegan, Anthony DeSclafani, Rookie Davis and Homer Bailey all dealing with various ailments.
The Reds are 4500/1 to win the National League Central Division and 4499/1 for the World Series.
Meanwhile over in Milwaukee the rebuilding Brewers are the early story of the campaign as they have exceeded expectations.
Eric Thames cranked his eighth home run of the campaign on Thursday in the 7-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Miller Park.
Travis Shaw and Jeff Bandy also went deep for the Brewers to help Zach Davies (1-2) to his first win this season.
