Thunder take winning streak into Minneapolis
A night after defeating the Atlanta Hawks for their 12th consecutive victory, the Oklahoma City Thunder head to the Target Center in Minneapolis to play the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Superstar Kevin Durant led the way with 41 points and Russell Westbrook chipped in with a further 27 in a game that confirmed the best and worst about the Western Conference leaders.
Durant and Westbrook continue to be the finest scoring tandem in the league and have carried the Thunder to a 21-4 record, some seven-and-a-half games ahead of the surging Denver Nuggets in the Northwest Division.
However, no other Oklahoma City player was in double figures and that lack of versatility is going to catch up with the Thunder in inopportune moments.
Back-to-back games, combined with travel and the return of Timberwolves Ricky Rubio, after the point guard did not play against the Miami Heat on Tuesday, may well be one of those moments.
The Thunder are 7500/1 to win this season's NBA Championship while the Heat can be backed at 3/4.
Out on the West Coast, the Portland Trail Blazers host the Denver Nuggets at the Rose Garden. Both sides come into the game having won three in a row including mutual victories over the San Antonio Spurs.
Now 6-3 in the month of December, the Nuggets continue to battle with the Timberwolves and Utah Jazz in the Division as the three sides remain within a half-game of each other.
Portland's winning streak has brought them to within a game of .500, but this continues to be a rebuilding year for the cellar-dwellers.
