Thunder aim for tenth win in a row
The Oklahoma City Thunder look to continue their strong start to the season when they entertain the Sacramento Kings of Friday evening.
The Thunder, 7500/1 to win the NBA Championship, who traded away James Harden to the Houston Rockets before the start of the season, find themselves with the best record in the NBA and riding a nine-game winning streak despite less production off the bench.
That reliance on superstars Kevin Durrant and Russell Westbrook certainly has the potential to bite the Thunder in the play-offs, but is a calculated gamble for an Oklahoma City side that cannot afford to be hit by the luxury tax.
The Kings on the other hand can only wish for the days when they might have to worry about breaking up a successful side and dealing with the punitive revenue sharing issues. Sacramento have reverted to form the past two games with defeats in Dallas and Milwaukee after a brief three-game winning surge over the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic and Portland Trail Blazers.
On Thursday, the Trail Blazers stunned the San Antonio Spurs with a 98-90 victory at the Rose Garden in Portland. Rookie Damian Lillard continued his fine play dropping in 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting to give Portland their second straight win in the third game of a six-game home stand.
The New Orleans Hornets are in town this weekend, followed by the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns. There are also home games Friday for the Denver Nuggets, Suns and Rockets while the Los Angeles Lakers, 10000/1 to win the NBA Championship this season, will look for significant improvement when they play the Wizards in Washington.
