Celtics and Clippers meet in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Clippers go in search of their 15th consecutive victory when they host the Boston Celtics on Thursday.

Boston comes into town after a surprisingly easy win over the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Christmas Day as the visitors ran out 93-76 winners. Former Ohio State stand out Jared Sullinger equalled his season and career high with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor in 33 minutes of work off the bench for the Celtics who were led by Rajon Rondo's game-high 19 points.

The victory moved Boston a half game ahead of the Nets in the Atlantic Division and a full game in front of the Philadelphia 76ers. Boston continues their road swing in California with games against Golden State on Saturday and Sacramento on Sunday before returning home to the TD Garden to welcome in the Memphis Grizzlies in the New Year.

Back in Brooklyn the loss cost head coach Avery Johnson his job on Thursday morning after a poor December saw the Nets tumble from chasing the New York Knicks to something of an also ran.

The Clippers are coming off a comfortable 112-100 victory over the Denver Nuggets that moved LA ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the race for the top seed in the Western Conference. Jamal Crawford and Matt Barnes came off the bench to combine for 42 points as the Clippers overcame a decent shooting night for Denver who hit 50 per cent on 40-of-80 from the field.

The Clippers are 10/11 to win with a point spread of -8.5 while the Celtics are 10/11 to win with a point spread of +8.5.
