Carmelo is questionable for Cavs game
The Atlantic Division leading New York Knicks welcome in the Cleveland Cavaliers to Madison Square Garden on Saturday evening.
Up by four in the Division and with a three-game winning streak, the Knicks, 1000/1 to win this season's NBA Championship, will sweat on the sprained ankle of Carmelo Anthony before making a game-time decision. Thursday New York had far too much for the Los Angeles Lakers (10000/1), picking up a 116-107 triumph to ease to an NBA Eastern Conference best 17-5 record.
Chasing the Knicks in the Division are the Brooklyn Nets who needed overtime to defeat the Detroit Pistons 107-105 at the Barclays Center.
Joe Johnson led all scorers with 28 points and Gerald Wallace added ten rebounds to go with 25 points for his second double-double of the season. The Nets are straight back into action on Saturday when they make the trip to the United Center in Chicago to play the Bulls.
Chicago is tied with the Milwaukee Bucks atop the Central Division and last played on Wednesday beating the 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Point guard Kirk Hinrich remains a doubt for the game for a Bulls side that has a surprisingly poor 6-6 home record. The Bucks, winners of four in a row including Friday night's win over the Cavaliers in Cleveland, are back home at the BMO Harris Bradley Center for two games starting with the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday evening.
It's game three of a four-game road swing for the visitors who have won eight in a row.
