Serena hits top form in Charleston

Serena Williams will play Lucie Safarova in the final of the Family Circle Cup after two extremely one-sided semi-finals in Charleston.

Fifth seed Williams hit 29 winners as she blasted past last year's US Open final winner and second seed Samantha Stosur 6-1 6-1.

"I have to say this is probably the best match I've played in my career either in a long time or it's up there in the top five," said Williams.

"Sam is such an excellent clay court player, and she's top 10, top five, so playing someone that's so good and doing so well is honestly a really good match for me."

Australian Stosur admitted she had been beaten by the better woman on the day as she missed out on the opportunity of playing ninth seed Safarova in the final.

The 25-year-old Czech Republic player thrashed Polona Hercog 6-0 6-0 in an embarrassingly one-sided encounter in the other semi-final.

Williams, who is 1/6 to win the final and 5/2 to clinch the French Open later this year, has beaten Safarova on each of the four previous occasions the two women have met.
