Great Britain have earned a Fed Cup World Group II play-off by beating Austria 2-0 in their final Europe/Africa Group I match in Israel.

I'm just so, so proud of the team after what they've achieved this week.

Anne Keothavong gave GB a winning start with a 7-6 6-3 success over Patricia Mayr-Achleitner, before Elena Baltacha earned a superb victory over Tamira Paszek, winning 6-1 6-4 to seal an unassailable 2-0 lead.

The team of Keothavong, Baltacha, Heather Watson and Laura Robson defeated Portugal, Israel and the Netherlands in their group games, before moving to on down Austria.

The success leaves GB facing a play-off in April to secure their place in World Group II next year, with the USA, Australia and Belarus among their potential opponents.

A delighted GB coach Judy Murray said after seeing her charges progress: "Right now I'm absolutely over the moon that we've managed to win all of our matches, to win our group and then win the play-offs and get ourselves a promotion play-off.

"It is everything that I would have hoped for and I'm just so, so proud of the team after what they've achieved this week."

The next Grand Slam on the women's calendar is the French Open, with Li Na 10/1 to defend her title at Roland Garros, while Victoria Azarenka is 3/1 and Petra Kvitova 14/1.
