Williams' yard is the one to watch

Venetia Williams' yard simply has to be followed over Christmas as the handler's purple patch continues in a big way.

With Gorgehous Lliege (5/2) winning yesterday, Drumshambo (11/10) on Wednesday and Sustainability (7/2) on Tuesday, the Williams yard is well and truly flying.

It was dreadful out there and they either handle it or they don't - this lad went through it brilliantly.

In fact winners and placed horses have become a regular feature of the yard's season and Gorgehous Lliege demonstrated exactly why in the bravest fashion possible at Towcester.

In some of the worst going seen this winter - with near 'rivers' running over parts of the track - the horse battled to an extraordinary victory to show that fitness is now a "given" with the yard's horses.

And afterwards, a mud-spattered Aidan Coleman said: "It was dreadful out there and they either handle it or they don't - this lad went through it brilliantly.

"He really did it very well and our horses are running very well indeed at the moment with Drumshambo impressing me with his victory."

Of that horse's future, Coleman said: "He's young and improving - one to keep an eye on I'd say."

With the yard going so well, it could be rewarding to take a close look at Mentalist in today's 1.20 at Ascot at 11/4, while Dare Me (8/1) takes on debutant chaser and last season's impressive Cheltenham Festival winner Simonsig (2/9) in the 2.30.

Duaiseoir (10/3 in the 3.05) is the final Williams runner of the day and is not without a chance.
