Sizing Europe won't be risked
Trainer Henry De Bromhead has decided not to run Sizing Europe in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day because of the soft ground.
The former champion chaser had been one of the favourites to win the race but the recent rain - and with more wet weather forecast before Christmas - has led De Bromhead to decide not to risk the horse.
He is set to run at Leopardstown instead, probably in the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase on 27th December, or the longer Lexus Chase a day later.
De Bromhead said: "He has the two options at Leopardstown and we'll leave him in both races. But the way the weather is going at the moment, I would imagine he'll probably run in the two-mile race."
First Lieutenant will also miss the King George VI Chase and will line up for the Lexus instead.
Former winner Long Run is 15/8 to finish first in the King George VI Chase again while Cue Card can be backed at 5/1 and Riverside Theatre at 5/1.
Sizing Europe won the 2011 Queen Mother Champion Chase and was runner-up a year later in the race over two miles at the Cheltenham Festival.
