Off the Ground is worth a look

Emma Lavelle's Off the Ground makes his seasonal bow at Plumpton today on an interesting rather than amazingly exciting afternoon.

The trainer's horses haven't arrived at the top of their form yet but this one has always had the stamp of a chaser and improved throughout last year and at his best could account for the rest of them.

The six-year-old has the likes of Hawkes Point (11/8) and possibly Escort'men to overcome in the Jill's Big Birthday Beginner's Chase (1.10).

And given that Emma doesn't send too many to the Sussex track the horse is certainly worth a check in the betting at 13/2.

The first race 12.40 - the L & T Building Services Novices' Hurdle has the look of a two horse race with the seemingly fully exposed Dawn Twister and Pendra the two to be interested in.

Pendra (4/7 to win the race) could be anything after comfortable wins - one of them here - on two appearances and it would be no surprise were the four-year-old to come out on top.

But Dawn Twister (3/1) was a decent type on the flat and confirmed himself a useful horse when running away with his last race here by seven lengths.

The worry is that for reasons only known to connections he is being dropped half-a-mile and may find the trip too short.
