King optimistic for Valdez

Alan King heads for Cheltenham today with a trio of horses leading the charge for honours.

Valdez is entered for the two-mile handicap hurdle whilst Turn Over Sivola and Medinas are both reasonably well fancied.

He (Turn Over Sivola) has plenty of pace but he is finishing his races better than he was last season.

King is never one to talk up his horses but makes an exception on the case of Valdez whom he describes as "a lovely big horse" and one of the yard's nicest bumper horses last season.

A winner at Huntingdon and just beaten at Wincanton he is one who should go extremely well this afternoon. Valdez can be backed at 8/1 to win the 3.40 today.

King - speaking on his website - added: "Turn Over Sivola never quite lived up to our expectations in bumpers last season, but he has taken well to hurdling and is now two from three, having won twice at Plumpton and only just been run out of it at Taunton.

"He has plenty of pace but he is finishing his races better than he was last season."

Medinas meanwhile ran a very good race first time up at Cheltenham, but has gone up 15 lbs since then and the trainer has his fingers crossed the horse can improve again.
