Walter pleased with Streama

Trainer Guy Walter has declared himself 'very happy' with Streama heading into Saturday's Group 1 George Main Stakes at Randwick.

Streama was due to run in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes last weekend but Walter decided to pull the mare out following a tough run in the Warwick Stakes.

Streama was just edged out by New Zealander Veyron in the Warwick and Walter believes the race, in particular the last 200m, would have take its toll on the horse.

The decision could turn out to be a masterstroke as Streama is now looking in great shape ahead of the weekend, with Walter and jockey Blake Shinn both happy.

"She had a hard run and I didn't want to overtax her," Walter said. "I'm very happy with her, as is Blake Shinn."

Streama will again go up against Veyron, who did run in the Chelmsford but could only finish ninth as Hawkspur, who is also entered in the George Main, took the win

Hawkspur is one of six George Main entries from the Chris Waller stable, led by last year's winner Shoot Out, while his other four nominations are Beaten Up, Moriarty, Royal Descent and Sacred Falls.

Meanwhile Hawkspur is 4/1 to win Race 5 at Randwick on Saturday, with Shoot Out 17/2 and Sacred Falls 8/1.
