Paul di Resta is determined to help Force India improve in 2013, with his personal goal to try and finish on the podium for the first time in his Formula 1 career.

The Scotsman, 2500/1 to be world champion next year, had been linked with a move to a bigger team for next season, but has stayed put for the time being and is eager to impress in his third full season with Force India.

He told The Scotsman: "I certainly want a podium and then I want to be on it again. That's the target, but I don't want to luck-in to a podium.

I certainly want a podium and then I want to be on it again.

"For me it has to be a well-earned top-three finish, one which we can build on. We need to do it on merit and I certainly believe it's achievable."

"Hopefully (we can) move from seventh in the constructors' championship to fifth. That's the team goal and it's one I believe we can achieve together."

Meanwhile, three-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has warned his rivals that there is more to come from him in 2013.

Vettel, 1/500 to make it four in a row, told Autosport magazine: "In terms of results, the last three years and winning the constructors' championship have been perfect, but I still feel that there are little bits here and there we can improve on.

"That's the philosophy and the spirit that we share in the whole team. You can always do better."
