Swansea sweat on Michu injury

Swansea City are hopeful that the ankle injury suffered by leading scorer Michu in the goalless draw with Reading at the Madejski Stadium is not too serious.

The 26-year-old Spaniard has been a massive hit since his summer arrival from Rayo Vallecano, scoring 13 Premier League goals in 19 appearances.

Even if he is the most important player, we have to deal with it.

However, he is set for a spell on the sidelines after being forced off late on against the Royals on Boxing Day.

Manager Michael Laudrup admitted: "We don't know how bad it is. The doctors and the physios say it shouldn't be the ligaments, which is the most important thing. We will have to wait 24 hours.

"He is one of the top-scorers in the league, definitely our top-scorer. He has played nearly every match this season.

"Even if he is the most important player, we have to deal with it. If you rely so much on one or two players it is not good for any team."

City's next game sees them head to Fulham on Saturday, with Swansea 9/4 to win the game in the likely absence of Michu and 12/5 to secure a point.

The 26-year-old, who is the joint top-scorer in the league with 13 goals, is now 50/1 to finish the season as the leading scorer in the Premier League.
