Lambert impresses Villa hierarchy

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has been praised by Chief Executive Paul Faulkner for his work ethic since arriving at the club.

Paul Lambert's hard work has been praised.

After a shaky start to their campaign, Villa are currently enjoying their best form of the season and now find themselves unbeaten in their last five Premier League games following an emphatic 3-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

Don't forget all Premier League matches are covered by the bet365 100% Euro Soccer Bonus, where you could earn a bonus of up to 100% on your returns on pre-match accumulator bets.

With a semi-final spot also booked in the Capital One Cup the Villa faithful could be forgiven for thinking their side may have finally turned a corner after a poor return in recent years, and while Faulkner is refusing to make any such bold predictions, he has been quick to praise the influence of Lambert in the recent turnaround.

"There's a long way to go and no-one is getting ahead of themselves," said Faulkner.

"But encouragement is a vital ingredient in order to sustain everyone's effort along the way and what we're starting to see this season is really encouraging.

We have a young, hungry, ambitious manager.

"Collectively, we are trying to build something that will be strong and lasting and those efforts are, hopefully, starting to bear fruit which is pleasing for everybody associated with the club.

"Paul and the team are working hard to achieve the kind of progression the manager wants to oversee and that work ethic is mirrored throughout the club.

"We have a young, hungry, ambitious manager and we have a young, hungry, ambitious team. The best things take time to build but Paul has been great from day one."

If Villa are to extend their unbeaten record in the Premier League to six games, they will need to be at their very best against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Villa are rated as 15/2 to claim the win, with the hosts 1/3.
